  • Scout Tour (From Ethiopia to South Africa)

Visiting the rock-hewn churches was a really great experience. They were built around 1250, by hand with hammer and chisel - really impressive. We started our journey from Lalibela back to Addis through the night. In the Ethiopian highlands we were confronted with thick fogg and had a very bad view - one meter ahead was all we could see. After these nights, you are always happy when the dawn comes, and with it the obligatory Nutella breakfast ;) We got to Dessi in the morning. It is a typical Ethiopian town with a lot of tuk-tuks which are the best way to get across here.

From Dessi, we drove on south bounds to Addis Ababa. Back in the lower lands we saw camels and a lot of traditional agriculture, which is the main source of income for most Ethiopians. We reached Addis at 10pm, tired but happy to see our beds again.
